Question: This has been troubling me for some time, women who abandon their children are prosecuted while men can choose to walk away and abandon their children and are not punished. If men want equal rights in regards to custody they should also be given equal punishment when children are hurt. I would love to also know how to go about doing something to make this happen legally if anyone knows??? Answer: If a man or woman abandons their child, they would be punished, not just the woman. In many states when you try to purchase or sell property they now run a check to see if you owe any money in child support.
